District-5 was dealt a wakeup call when they squandered a 3-1 lead to lose 4-3 to Espo’s Army in the team’s third game of the season. Espo tied the game with around 7 minutes left in the third until they scored what would be the game winning goal with around 5 minutes left in the game. The last 5 minutes were spent by D-5 controlling offensive zone time, but multiple shots did not find back of the net to obtain the much-needed equalizer.
D-5 battled hard, giving up 22 shots against the opposition and Joe Fornarotto did his part in keeping the team in the game with quite a few timely stops. Bobby Rapuano led the way with a 2 goal effort and was 8/10 in the faceoff circle. Mike Slugocke scored to maintain the team lead in goals with 4. Other notable efforts came from Quentin Lorentzen who had 2 assists on the night as well as Louis Rapuano, who also provided 2 assists to add to his team leading 8 points.
